Is my high school sweetheart still into me?

I dated this guy from the 10th grade until I graduated. He was definitely my high school sweetheart. We went our separate ways and I eventually got married. When I recently got divorced he suddenly popped back up into my life. We started out just reminiscing on old times. but it eventaully has gotten to the point that we spend 5 hours or so on the phone each night. He "kisses" me over the phone and says things like " you were the most beautiful girl i ever dated" and "you still have that same smile i loved so much" and he is talking about flying me out to see him. It seemed to me like he was still into me. When I broached the topic of having a relationship he turned it down. He said that he just wants to be friends. But in this same conversation also said actions speak louder than words. so what am i supposed to think? Should I take a hint and tell him how i feel or should i take him at his word that he just wants to be friends
