What do you think is the origin of religion?

Not understanding how things are caused by causes religion. People used to think that tsunamis were caused by poseidon. And earthquakes and volcanoes were caused by god getting mad. Today we know suck things are false and so explanations are becoming clearer and clearer and we have less things that we are unable to prove and so each time we become more advanced the idea of god doing everything shrinks due to these advancements.
