I am writing an essay and would like to know if this sentence is correct...?

Your thesis statement is not bad, but it is not grammatically correct. The first semicolon should be a comma because you are only trying to separate introductory matter from the main clause; a semicolon is much too strong in this instance. The second semicolon is correct, but a period might be better. However, since you want your thesis to be only one sentence (a practice which is by no means standard), you may leave it in without fear. Make sure you change the first semicolon, though, as that use is not acceptable in Standard Written English. Best of luck on your essay!
