Help with printing problems?

I have had to completely reset computer back to factory settings. I have reinstalled all the programs however there is a problem with my printer. I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 wireless. I have reinstalled the program Quickbooks however it won't print invoices unless I go into advanced settings and print directly to printer. What I have now found is if I do that, my pdf files won't print so I have to set it back to print from spool. Any ideas how I can get everything back on track again-I don't want to keep switching between settings.
